Australia 2005

I spent two wonderful months, February/March 05,  in Australia visiting the Country and the New South Wales Rural Fire Service - or the RFS for short. New South Wales is larger than the states of Texas and Florida - that's big.  The RFS consists of 2,200 Brigades (stations), 600 paid employees and 70,000 volunteer firefighters throughout the State.   All the firefighters in these images are volunteers.  If you see a RFS firefighter working the fireline, you are looking at a volunteer. To Inspector Cameron Wade for arranging my stay, the Carters for putting me up, Glenhaven Brigade for the really great memories, members of the NSWRFS and others I know I am missing, thank you! Australia is a great country and the bush firefighters of Australia are truly remarkable…..
